The libretto is loosely based on A Very Unpleasant Story, a short story by Elena Garton. It was written between 1947 (Spittal, Austria) and 1950 (Sydney, Australia).
Elena's story was adapted by the composer to form the narrative, Forever Auslaender, from which the songs, voice-works and compositions have evolved.
Work on the libretto begun mid-94 in the Czech Republic and continued through to January 98.
